We had a great time at the science centre on Friday. We tried lots of experiments and learned lots of new things. We also got to learn about minibeasts and how to split them into different categories. We had the chance to touch a hissing cockroach, a giant snail and a worm...

Fun Events

Beech House have been raising money for a variety of charities this week. The children have been playing playground games and taking part in a variety of events including 'Wheels Day'. We have had a great time.

Bean Tasting Session

We talked about all of the different kinds of beans that there are. We looked at kidney beans, butter beans, haricot beans, coffee beans, runner beans and much more. We decided to try some of these during our tasting session. Our graph showed that the favourite type of bean in our class is the baked bean, that was until Ms Johnston got out the jelly beans, then we all changed our minds!

A Bean?

Today in school a bean appeared in our class. Sam the teddy had gone home with Harvey last night and in his bag was a bean. We looked at it under the microscope and we thought that it was an eyeball, but on closer examination we discovered it was a bean. We took it out and planted it in the garden. We will have to wait and see what it grows in to...

The Circus

The P1 and P2 children put on a fantastic show for their friends and family members on Friday. They had been learning about the circus and had spent a great deal of time developing their skills in balancing, movement and mime. Well done everyone. It was a great show.

Percy the Puffin

Children from P1 and the nursery took part in a web chat with Percy the Puffin. Percy comes from the Scottish Seabird Centre in Oban and with the help of his friend, Emily Dodd, he told us a story all about puffins. Before the story began, we could see real puffins flying about outside. it was amazing to see all of this from the comfort of our school via webcam. There were about 90 other schools and nurseries logged on for the interactive session and the children enjoyed talking to people from all over Scotland.

The Circus

We have been learning all about how a circus operates and the different people that work there. We enjoy dressing up as clowns and trying out our acrobatic skills. We have been experimenting with foam to see how easy it is to throw. We made our own clowns using a variety of collage materials. We will be inviting our parents to come up to school to see what we have been learning.

The Health Visitor

The health visitor came to visit us and told us all about her job. She brought with her a training doll that cries until you give it what it needs. We had to decide if it needed fed, a new nappy, a sleep or a hug. The baby needed it's nappy changed twice in the space of half an hour...

Baby Ellie's Christening

Yesterday we went to the church with our friends and family. Rev Bell talked us through a Baptism Ceremony. We had our baby named Ellie. After the service we went back to school and enjoyed a party with our visitors. Luckily Baby Ellie didn't cry once!

Mrs Nicol's daughter brought her new baby Laurie in to visit us in class. She told us about all of the things that babies need when they go out and have a bath. She brought her baby box in for us to look at. What a lot of stuff babies need!
